"There are many Hackneys, but this is one I kept thinking about while I lived there. I wanted to know what was at the end of the sirens and flashing lights?"
Maddock’s debut, Our kids are going to hell, edited by Gigi Giannuzzi (Trolley Books publisher). During the making of the project, Robin got up at 5 am following the police on early morning drug raids in Hackney, east London. Eventually he found that at the end of the sirens and flashing lights there’s usually nothing. “The real story as ever, is elsewhere”.
"You’ll get ten years for this!" - sergeant’s holding up a Phil Collins CD - laughter
